Solanum wrightii is a broadleaf evergreen shrub with green foliage. In fall, spring, summer and winter lavender, purple and white flowers emerge. Grows well with sun and regular water. Does well in average and well-drained soil.
This exceptional flowering shrub from South America blooms for months at a time covering itself with 2 inch blooms. Flowers open as a violet-purple color and fade to almost white. The flower stems form along the new growth and continue to produce blooms over many weeks. Known as the "Giant Potato Tree," it can grow 6 to 8 feet or taller. Although it doesn't produce potatoes, it's in the same family. Typically it is grown from seed and plants need to grow several feet before flowering begins. We are selling cutting grown plants, which tend to be bushy, well branched and flower when 6" to 12" tall making these plants excellent for containers. Normally, a spring-to-fall bloomer Solanum wrightii will flower year round if grown in high light.
