"Champion's Wood Fern" is a vigorous grower with dark green glossy evergreen fronds that stay erect in winter, even rising through snow cover. It is however not until June that new fronds emerge for the new season. 2-3'

The Champion's wood fern typically grows in a clump to 2-3' tall. Its fronds grow upright, arching toward the end. They have a dark glossy green colour contrasting with the reddish-brown scales covering the rachides. The fronds remain erect and evergreen throughout the winter.
Champion's Fern. Named for an English botanist who collected in Hong Kong, this grows in dry woods of China, Japan and one would suspect, the mountains of Hong Kong. Evergreen with bright apple-green new fronds, this is certainly a champion among ferns combining beauty with resilience.
