Nursery contributed plant descriptions

We offered this strain years ago, and now that our plants are OUTPERFORMING so many other Lenten Roses in our garden (yes, still getting better and better after more than a decade), we are offering young plants once again. This hybrid seed strain was selected by David Culp of Pennsylvania, with an eye toward larger outward facing flowers. This is a seed strain and the colors vary from plant to plant.
The Brandywine Strain from breeder David Culp offers large flowers with bright, clear colours on strong healthy plants. David breeds with rare species and prized selections that he personally collected from Elizabeth Strangman, Ashwood Nursery, Blackthorn Nurseries, Gisela Schmiemann, and Phedar Nurseries. This strain will include singles, doubles and anemones, as well as dark reds, spotted pinks, picotees, and apricots. Deer resistant. Perennial Plant of the Year 2005.
