Shaped like a child's simple drawing of a flower, but with the texture of striated suede and color like a fine Merlot, Night Butterfly is our choice to represent collarette dahlias. This form has a single layer of flat petals with a second tuft of shorter wavy rays, a little floral collar, encircling the center. Night Butterfly sometimes grows shorter, about 24" in year one, but in subsequent years matures to 30-36" and produces an unbelievable number of flowers. This argues for planting in a container and overwintering in a non-freezing garage, to be enjoyed next season, too.

Night Butterfly' has velvety, simple flowers with deep red petals and an inner ring of small white and deep pink petals surrounding the yellow centre. A distinctively different dahlia.
