Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The name refers to the lack of petals which distinguishes it from Trillium smallii. In the wild it grows on forested hillsides near sea level. Only five-six species of Trillium are native to Asia.
This is a very rare Japanese species in which the petals are missing and the sepals are red to burgundy. The flowers are quite small so small that you could say that this is a trillium only its mother could love. But it's a trillium. Don't you just want to love all trilliums?
