(Klotzsch) Hoer. Ericaceae. BLM 0532 nr. Siberia, Costa Rica. Both an epiphytic and terrestrial dweller of the cloud forest of Central America. The magenta flowers are pollinated by the Fiery-throated Hummingbird during the rainy season. The tubers can grow exceedingly large to 1m wide! Grow in cool locations with regular watering. Probably the first time in cultivation. These rooted cuts are shipped potted and will eventually form the characteristic caudex.
