Sedum 'Black Jack' PP16736 is a deciduous cactus / succulent with black and burgundy foliage. In summer pink flowers emerge. Attracts bees making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun and occasional - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Does well in average, gritty and well-drained soil.
This brand new cultivar arose from the bold and vigorous 'Matrona.' 'Black Jack' has the excellent size and habit of its predecessor but with intensely dark-purple, almost black, foliage. The profuse pink blossoms are held on eight inch wide flowerheads in late summer. Upright stonecrops are useful nearly year round: mounds of succulent new growth in early spring, structural upright clumps through summer, heads of showy flower heads in late summer and fall, and dried flower stems in winter.
