Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Despite its cute but questionable name this is a superb addition to the world of clematis by Dan Hinkley. It has thick, almost succulent, deep plum-purple foliage on vigorous stems to 20 feet. In early spring it is smothered by thousands of white flowers blushed with pink. Use it as a groundcover, on a large trellis or grow it up medium-sized trees for a wall of spring colour. The foliage will be darkest in full sun though all Clematis montana will grow well down to part shade.
