Delphinium elatum 'Blue Lace' is a broadleaf deciduous perennial with green foliage. In summer blue and lavender flowers emerge. Attracts bees and beneficial insects making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly shade and even moisture - regular water. Does well in average and well-drained soil.

Because....Delphinium are irresistible. 'Blue Lace' is a New Millenium selection from Dowdeswell's Delphiniums of New Zealand, which are known to be more heat tolerant. In June and July, exquisite sky blue blossoms with a hint of pink adorn 5-6' stems. Delphinium like a rich well-drained slightly alkaline soil, and prefer cooler summer temperatures. Cut back flower stems after blooming to promote a fresh flush of basal foliage.

Blue Lace' blooms with dense spikes of sky blue flowers with a touch of lavender pink. Removing spent flower spikes will result in another round of blooms on secondary spikes in late summer and fall. Its large, deeply incised leaves make this plant attractive even when it's not in bloom. Selected in New Zealand, the New Millennium delphinium strains out-perform all other tall types.
