Koeleria glauca 'Coolio' is a deciduous perennial grass (or grassy in appearance) with blue foliage. In fall and summer tan flowers emerge. Features grassy texture. 'Coolio' is a cute dwarf mound of blue-green fine foliage. There seems to be a lot of disagreement about what exactly this grass is: some list it as perennial, others as annual; some zone 6 some zone 5, some list it as growing 12" others much less or even more. 'Coolio' is a seed strain of K. glauca, which is a short-lived perennial cool-season grass hardy to z5. It needs well-drained lean soil to perform well and may appreciate some extra moisture or partial shade in hot summers. Other forms of K. glauca I've grown have remained fairly petite, only 6" or so tall and 8" wide. I expect 'Coolio' to do the same. Given the above, it will be great in gardens and containers with other plants that like it dry and lean: sedums, Yucca nana, Iris 'Boo', Alliums and Salvia 'Ave Maria'.
