Low-growing succulent with upward reaching stems to 18" high and several feet across. Distinctive blue leaves are cylindrical, 3-4" long and slightly curved. Commonly used as a groundcover in the Santa Barbara area. Also useful as a border plant where blue-gray effect is desired. Conspicuous smoky-white flowers appear in summer. Full sun or light shade and drought tolerant but better with occasional water. Hardy to 20F. South Africa.
Stout stems bear numerous branches up to 5" long. These blue fleshy thick cylindrical thick leaves are grooved on the upper surface. Growing to 1' tall, they produce white daisy like blooms in spring and summer. Keep on the dry side in a sun to part shade area.
This Senecio has a rather tough name to wrap your tongue around. It presents itself as larger form of Senecios serpens with a similar sprawling habit but with longer 3-4" blue gray pencil like leaves. Plants can grow to about 12-15" tall and spread. A good choice for adding a vertical to mixed succulent planters. shipping 4" pots.
Blue Chalk Finger. Ok it is tender as all get out but what a smashing container plant! And easy to overwinter indoors as a houseplant. Thanks to Brian for sharing this eyecatcher with us. Big pot with these in it and tall leggy purple black Aeoniums coming up through and above..............
This is such a useful succulent. The linear foliage gives the garden a shot of blue all year long. The texture & color combine well with many plants. Try it with Asclepias currassavica ‘Silky Gold’ for a blue & yellow garden or combine with lime green Crassula lycopodiodes for a cool-color scheme. Grows to about 1’ high & about 3’ wide. Clip to keep compact. The flowers are inconspicuous, but S. madraliscae makes an excellent foliage plant. It can be grown as a trailing plant in a container.
A silver-blue terrete leave succulent that grows to 12" high. Excellent in garden pots and as a ground cover.
