Cassava is a tall semi-woody shrub with big palmately compound leaves that are a foot or more across. This variegated form has dark green leaves with bright gold centres on red stems. A striking garden or container specimen plant, it is generally thought of as tropical but some reports suggest greater hardiness. Safest in a pot and kept at a minimum of five Celsius in winter. Cassava roots are one of the most important tropical food crops. Tapioca is made from the starch of the cassava root.
Tropical Tapioca, palmate yellow and green leaves with red petioles, dramatic patio plant. Full sun. Forms tuberous roots with age. Great for decorative pots. Keep above 50 °F.
