Lavender-blue lacecap flowers appear all summer and into fall on this wonderful 2-4' shrub, a gorgeous and reliable bloomer year after year, best of all the lovely color is not dependent on soil pH; a wonderful hydrangea developed in the Netherlands by the late W. Rutten. S-PSh/M PP21991
I feel a deep sense of disgust at the mention of ‘Arborvitae’ as they are overused as hedges and trimmed into ugliness in the PNW…but I have to say, this one has some class! Dense, twisted fans of deep green foliage form a slow growing, narrow column that reaches 7’ in height and a mere 2’ wide over 10 years. For a no-prune hedge or perfect for a tight corner or small spot in the garden where a vertical form is needed…or as a potted specimen. Sun, average soil, water.
Blue bracted hydrangea blooming on new wood making it reliable every summer. The drift of blue flowers tipped in white from mid summer to fall. Additionally the big, round flower buds and fuzzy leaves add to its beauty. Color is not affected by soil pH.

This species is a native of Tiawan and Japan and has fuzzy leaves and bristly hairy stems. Flowers develop in late summer and have a large flattened blue corymb surrounded by sterile white flowers. Blue Bunny is outstanding in leaf or bloom. It grows quickly into a handsome shrub about 6' tall.

A new selection of Bracted Hydrangea that reliably flowers on new wood in zone 6, meaning this baby should bloom reliably year after year. Also of note: the blue flower color appears unaffected by the pH of the soil, unlike with other Hydrangea.
