Sherwood Elfin is considered a dwarf Japanese maple only reaching about 6′ at maturity. A small red leaf cultivar, the new growth is hot pink-red. As the leaves age they become dark red turning to fire engine red in the fall. This maple can handle the full hot sun, but also does well as a patio container plant. Sherwood Elfin is a slow growing cultivar with an estimated height in 10 years of 5′ tall and 4′ wide.
