Boasting a plethora of late blooming, bold, bright crimson mopheads, this delectable small-sized Hydrangea originated in Wadenswil, Switzerland. The nonoverlapping sepals crowd onto a compact 4 to 5 in. domed cluster, enhanced by fuzzy looking, prominent fertile flowers. Well-suited for the front of the border, a patio or a container, ‘Hörnli’s handsome, red-rimmed and toothed, matte green leaves cloak a neat vigorous shrub that easily nestles into a tighter spot, never needs pruning and promises to gratify.
A unique compact variety with wonderful prolific blooms We've grown this variety for a few years and I'm so impressed. This Switzerland bred dwarf grows slowly and very compact. But blooms and blooms all season long just like it's large cousins. This will rival Pia for ultimate compact mophead hydrangea. The blooms remind me of Pia but are not as carmine pink. I would say they are a bit more orange red. I hope we have grown enough of this beautiful little plant. This is the ultimate shrub for a small garden or container.
A rare DWARF mophead reaching a diminutive 20" tall originated in Sweden. Flowers are a bright rosy crimson fading to greyish pink with sepals that don't overlap and are in 4-5" domed clusters. There are fuzzy, prominent fertile flowers. The matte green leaves are edged in red. Similar to the more well known 'Pia' and like that plant, makes a spreading mound.
