This fabulous selection of Miscanthus is more compact than most of the other zebra grass we've seen. Dark green blades have strikingly vivid, horizontal gold banding. The lovely creamy 6' tall plumes are held upright (no flopping) above the 4' foliage in late summer-to-autumn. Fantastic singly, massed or in containers! This easy-going grass can tolerate dry sites, deer, and is not too fussy about soil conditions. S-PSh/M-D
Dwarf form of Zebra Grass, clumps 3-4’ tall and 2-3’ wide, deciduous leave blades are banded with yellow. Striking coppery red flower stems in fall stand well above the foliage and provide wonderful accent in the autumn garden! Tolerant of most soils, average watering to almost boggy conditions; full sun to part shade (flowers best in sun); deer resistant and drought tolerant. USDA Z5

Sharing many of the attributes of its larger, better-known relation, Miscanthus 'Zebrinus', this preeminent specimen is noticeably smaller. Introduced by Hines Nursery of California, 'Hinjo' displays copper-colored blooms and lax foliage with bold yellow stripes in an irregular, horizontal pattern. The bands are set more closely, and especially when viewed from afar, create a spellbinding effect. An excellent option for a garden with limited room, Compact Zebra Grass maintains a good form, and is a high-spirited companion for Rudbeckia triloba 'Prairie Glow' and Sedum 'Mr. Goodbud'.
