Evergreen glossy spiny leaves form tight clumps 12” tall and 24” wide; spring foliage has beautifully bronze-pink edges and is freckled with burgundy. Loose spring spikes of white 4 point star flowers with prominent yellow stamens float above the leaves. Light shade, well-drained soil. Enjoys regular moisture but tolerates some dry shade(but grows more slowly).
Leaflets emerge bronze with raspberry specks aging to a rich green with the raspberry specks on long, narrow, prominently spiny leaves. Long stems topped with an abundance of small white flowers. Plant in partial sun to nearly full shade. 12” to 18” tall. Zones 4 to 9. Evergreen.
Epimedium stellulatum 'Wudang Star' forms constellations of large, pure white flowers with short yellow spurs on dark stems atop bronze new foliage speckled with red. Epimedium are among the easiest perennials to grow. They thrive in medium to heavy shade, and when established, are highly drought tolerant. They are deer resistant and are seldom bothered by voles or other critters. They can be used as effective groundcovers or shade garden accents.
Aptly named 'Wudang Star' unfurls a floral delicacy of exquisite pure white blossoms that resemble 4-pointed stars in loosely arranged sprays. Highlighted by prominent yellow stamens, the abundant larger than average blooms are elevated on tall lean stems above a lustrous spiny green foundation, distinctive for its arrowhead- shaped leaves and newly emerging growth with bronzy pink margins. Let this rare Chinese gem brighten your garden's shady nooks and you'll see why acclaimed plantsman Roy Lancaster introduced it.
A rare selection, rarely available and introduced from China by Roy Lancaster in 1992. Masses of small flowers are held above the attractive spiny, shiny arrowhead-shaped leaves which emerge with bronzy pink edges. Each starry white bloom has conspicuous, prominent golden yellow stamens. This cultivar name suggests a 'constellation of little white stars'. Soil: Moist, rich, well-drained H:6-12" W: 12-36"
