    Wonderful plant! Fatsia japonica can grow as a houseplant with big glossy evergreen leaves. Looks like a huge maple leaf. Our original plant froze to the ground at 12ºF. But within a year it was back to 3'. Amazingly drought resistant and can grow in dark shade.

It has been hardy in Kentucky zone 6 for several years almost evergreen here it can lose larger foliage due to cold wind. It quickly returns in spring forming a small tree or large shrub.     A medium to large shrub reaching 6-10' tall with an equal width, however, new stems can easily be eliminated to keep a narrow form. Often used as a corner plant in entries for a tropical feel.
