Mass plant for a dense groundcover or between rocks. Part Sun to Shade
Alchemilla ellenbeckii, also called Carpet Lady’s Mantle, is a mat-forming, evergreen specimen that works excellently as a container spiller or groundcover. Small, yellow flowers are displayed on a carpet-forming perennial with deeply-lobed, dark green foliage, carried on bright red stems that root into the ground.
This small, prostrate ground-covering lady's mantle is native to east Africa. Its considerable hardiness suggests that is from the high elevation areas of this region. A. ellenbeckii has been a great favourite at the nursery for the last few years. The leaves are tiny, 5-lobed, kidney-shaped and pale green. The flowers are the classic electric green and offer a subtle display.
Let this low growing, wonderfully textured plant creep its way around the shaded stepping stones of your woodland garden. Let the wine red stems and miniature, sometimes silver-edged, deeply lobed and scalloped green foliage surprise you under Helleborus, Astrantia or Tricyrtis.
