Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This newcomer brings a NEW color to a delightful genus with its 15" stalks of golden yellow tubular flowers; a wonderful selection for the butterfly garden, the xeriscape garden, or the border. S/M-D/GDr
Yellow, stained with orange, helmets of fiery color from midsummer to autumn frost. This silvery-leaved southwestern wildflower is intensely aromatic. Sunny, well drained sites. Perennial. Garden loam. USDA zones 5-8 (up to 6000').
Bees, butterflies and hummingbirds will gather around this colorful Plant Select introduction. Originally a southwestern wildflower, resilient Coronado is distinguished by highly aromatic, silver washed green leaves and sunny yellow tubular blooms set aglow with orange streaks. Tailor-made for a water wise garden, it can be situated near other undemanding cohorts like Nepeta 'Little Trudy' and Oenothera 'Silver Blade'.
A wildflower from Northern Mexico that deserves its common name “Hummingbird Mint.” The flowers are hummingbird magnets & the grey-green foliage has a distinctly minty scent. The flower color is yellow suffused with warm orange & it really brightens up a garden without being garish. The color contrasts nicely with the foliage & the Summer blooming flowers are carried in profusion on a 30” tall plant with a 18” spread. Tough, drought tolerant & the perfect plant for a sunny spot in your garden. Also good for pots & can be grown as an annual in cold or wet areas. Lovely combined with blue-flowered Catanache caerulea!
