shrub, cactus / succulent
x Mangave 'Bloodspot' is an evergreen cactus / succulent or shrub with blue, chocolate, green and variegated foliage. In fall and summer cream and yellow flowers emerge. Features glaucous texture. Grows well with sun and low water. Drought tolerant once established. Does well in average, gritty, lean and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant and verticillium wilt resistant.
Mangave 'Bloodspot' is a compact Agave / Manfreda hybrid that forms a non-suckering rosette up to 12" tall and 15" wide. The gray-green leaves, 8" long and 1" wide, have a fine-toothed margin edged with maroon and are speckled with the same color. It is best grown in full sun to light shade in well-drained soil and should be irrigated occasionally. Hardy in most coastal California gardens, it can tolerate temperatures down to 22°F. This attractive plant is great for containers or planting in the garden and is believed to be an Agave x Manfreda hybrid. It may have originated in Japan and is sometimes listed as Agave hybrid 'Bloodspot' or 'Blood Spot'.
