Huge, furry, purple-tinged, dinner-plate-sized leaves with purple undersides and red veins -- all on red stems! Semi-hardy, Mexican shrub daisy with clusters of yellow "daisies" in mild winters. To 4-8', best in a half shaded spot with normal water; more sun means darker leaves. Evergreen in USDA zone 10 and upper zone 9. Root hardy to the mid teens °F, USDA zone 8b, Easy from cuttings otherwise. Awesome velvety goodness!
Want some dramatic foliage? This Senecio has fuzzy, lobed, dinner-plate sized leaves that are dark green on top & rich purple underneath. The thick stems are fuzzy & purple, too. Grows to 8’ tall & 6-8’ wide so it will create quite a presence. In Winter it blooms with clusters of bright yellow flowers. Evergreen, but can be pruned to the ground if it needs rejuvenation.
