One of our most popular tropicalissimo offerings! Evergreen, 6"- 10’ tall, BIG BOLD merlot velvet leaves known to cause serious ‘plant lust’…yellow flowers are an afterthought. Sun to light shade, good soil, likes nitrogen, ample water, gaw-geus in a big trendy pot, or plant in the ground. Hardy to low 20’s but can freeze down to the teens and rebound. Gotta love this plant! Easy to grow, but we never have enough!
Huge, furry, purple-tinged, dinner-plate-sized leaves with purple undersides and red veins -- all on red stems! Semi-hardy, Mexican shrub daisy with clusters of yellow "daisies" in mild winters. To 4-8', best in a half shaded spot with normal water; more sun means darker leaves. Evergreen in USDA zone 10 and upper zone 9. Root hardy to the mid teens °F, USDA zone 8b, Easy from cuttings otherwise. Awesome velvety goodness!
Want some dramatic foliage? This Senecio has fuzzy, lobed, dinner-plate sized leaves that are dark green on top & rich purple underneath. The thick stems are fuzzy & purple, too. Grows to 8’ tall & 6-8’ wide so it will create quite a presence. In Winter it blooms with clusters of bright yellow flowers. Evergreen, but can be pruned to the ground if it needs rejuvenation. From Chiapas, Mexico.
