This very small hosta has rounded wavy leaves of blue green with wide, golden edges. They form a twisted and turned little clump that produces 14" scapes of lavender blooms in early midsummer.
The unique Virginia Blue fern (Polypodium pseudoaureum) is silvery blue in colour (green in the winter) with mitt shaped fronds that are deeply lobed and travels on little rabbit feet. It can reach 12 inches tall with evergreen leaves. Will brighten up a shady area in the garden or in a container. Hardy to zone 8, this species is still a bit of an adventure -- we are unaware of anyone trying this in BC so far. Let us know if you have. Also makes a good houseplant.
Phlebodium pseudoaureum has an almost prehistoric thing happening with its foliage…Irregularly and softly lobed in a lovely shade of blue green. It is adaptable to soil , but doesn't seem t mind being on the dry said or confined to a container, making it a very attractive houseplant. aSpreads by stolons led by fuzzy amber brown "rabbit's feet". Grows 12-20" tall, and is hardy in zones 8b-11.
