Farfugium 'Gigantea' has giant, thick and glossy leaves forming a four foot tall by four foot wide foliar presence in the shade to part shade garden. Bright yellow daisy-like flowers held in quite open, arching clusters appear in late summer to fall. In coastal BC leopard plants appreciate good moisture during the growing season but drier conditions in winter. Try in dry shade that is irrigated in summer.

"Wild collected" at a hotel in San Juan, Argentina (with permission of course). An over-the-top evergreen perennial from Japan, the rounded leaves exceeding 2 ft with a deep green, glossy finish and an oaky aftertaste. Forms clumps to 4 ft tall x 3 ft wide topped by yellow, daisy-like flowers that just aren't the point. It's the foliage! Part shade to shade in well-drained soil with consistent summer moisture. Frost hardy to below 20F, upper USDA zone 8, with mulch.

Big and BOLD describes this baby. Perennial clumps are 3-4’ tall and composed of long stems topped by BIG, glossy, rounded leaves that can be as large as 18” across! A great tropicalissimo look for a brightly shaded (takes AM sun) garden spot…decent garden soil and moderate water; good fertility equals larger leaves. Yellow daisies in late summer can’t compete with foliage allure. Evergreen in warm climates, dies back elsewhere. Also excels in a large enough container.

Similar to its striaght species, except for the giant scale of its leaves -- nearly 15 inches in width! These huge leaves are so thick and glossy it's hard to believe they're real. Stalks of bright yellow flowers 4' tall appear in late October, contrasting nicely with the dark green foliage. Fantastic container planting and a dramatic centerpiece to any landscape. SH/M
