Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A lovely, spreading Japanese woodland groundcover with rounded, lance-shaped leaves striped and margined in white. The flowers are pendant white bells with green tips.

By: Phoenix Perennials and Specialty Plants Ltd.

Rhizomatous perennial, gently creeping, not as wide spreading as the green form,. Arching stems 1-2' with leaves edged and streaked with white decorated in spring with pale green and white dangling bells. Deciduous. Highlights the woodland garden in light shade, humus rich, moist soil. Seems to be deer resistant and low maintenance!

The plants are light blue gray, slightly folded, oval and they have thick foliage. Funnel shaped pale lavender flowers on 12" scapes late summer. Ideal for rock gardens or containers.

Similar in habit and cultural requirements to the above Disporum species. However this variegated form of the Asian species is sort af aggressive. The drier the soil the less vigorously it will behave.

We've had this form of Fairy Bells in one of our shade gardens for some time and it has loosely formed a sizable colony. (It may in fact be a distinct cultivar whose name alludes us.) Creamy yellow streaked variegated leaves adorn 12-15" arching stems, with pendant greenish white bells in spring.

Painterly green leaves brush-stroked with white are accompanied by large pendent greenish-white bells. With advantageous conditions and left to its devices it will become a lovely, light ground cover mixing politely with other woodland friends. 1-2' tall.Minimum temperature: -30 °F

One of my favorite Disporum species with variegated foliage of the first rank and a rugged constitution in the garden. Creamy white pendant flowers are an unnecessary bonus. Spreads gently and intermingles coyly with surrounding plants.
