Peony Duchesse de Nemours was introduced in 1856; its loose, double flowers are perfect for cutting and its fragrance, likened to that of lily of the valley, made it a huge hit then. The Duchesse is still popular. A vigorous variety, a long bloomer with lots of side buds and a beauty. Oh, and a bargain. (Think 50+ years of fabulous spring flowers.)

Its rich fragrance and exquisite beauty have made this French icon a favorite for over 150 years. Opening as "creamy chalices" (Harding, 1917) glowing with gold, its abundant flowers develop into absolutely perfect white cumulus clouds. RHS AGM winner, strong stems, 3-5 eye roots, 34-38" mid-season, zones 3-7b(8bWC)
