The exquisite trumpets arrive on the scene in mid to late July (preceding the oriental lilies in August which you should also have in your garden) and provide dramatic height and fragrance. 'Golden Splendor' has striking, tall yellow fragrant lilies with deep green leaves that rise out of the summer border. Plant in groups of 3 to 5 for a dramatic visual and olfactory experience. Good fresh cut flower.
The golden yellow, bronze-shaded trumpets of this tall, mid-century beauty are richly fragrant. Lily expert Ed McRae praised its "great vigor and breath-taking beauty," and Michael Pollan in his modern classic Second Nature tells of planting it near purple Clematis jackmanii and being pleased to discover that "the two plants' colors and temperaments do indeed rhyme." Aurelian, 5-6', mid-summer blooming, zones 5a-8b(10bWC)
