In this dwarf witch's broom selection named for the hedge hog for which it resembles, an 18" tall tight prickly bun is an indication you have been growing this well for a long time as an inch or two year is cranking right along.

DWARF. A tidy cushion of dense dark green foliage is commonly called the 'Hedgehog Spruce'. The common name refers to the stiff and prickly needles. It is an old form often confused with others such as Picea abies 'Gregoryana Veitchii'. It has been known since the late 1800's, and supposedly was a German selection.
