Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Sequin Chestnut likes sandy, loamy, and clay soils! It does like it well drained and isn't picky if the soil isn't very rich in nutrients. Can grow in very acid to neural soils. Give it plenty of sun and enjoy some delicious chestnuts! As early as 1870 it was described as a early and heavy bearing tree. The nuts used not unlike other starches like potato and cereals. Can grow in a seed bed for 1-2 years before setting into a final location. This chestnut hybridizes easily with other varieties if you want to experiment. This variety is disease/blight resistant.
With grape sized nuts produced in abundance this interesting Chinese chestnut could be an addition to the pallete of forage crops for wildlife.
