A hardy cascading plant (to 10') whose finely dissected foliage opens deep crimson but changes to a dark-purple-red, which color it holds well through the summer until autumn?s scarlet appears. PSh/M
Tamukeyama Japanese Maple is one of the older Japanese maple cultivars. This beautiful tree has outstanding foliage color that cascades in deep red billows. It holds its color well through all seasons. Tamukeyama's new foliage is a deep crimson-red when unfolding but turns to a dark purple-red. It has an excellent shade of dark red that holds until late summer. Its fall color is bright scarlet. This cultivar does well in both heat and humidity. Tamukeyama Japanese Maple has a strong cascading form.
This laceleaf Japanese maple, named "tribute to the mountain," dates to 1710, but its fine qualities continue to recommend it. Hardy and strongly cascading, it has deep red spring foliage that darkens to purple-red, which holds well through summer even in
Japanese Red Maples offer fantastic color and shape as specimen plants in home gardens and landscapes. Best planted with light green and yellow plants, such as many Coral Bell varieties or Spirea, to bring out the best color possible in both. Red Japanese Maples are very popular in Asian style gardens and are quickly becoming more popular in less formal garden designs as well as primary focal plants.
Tamukeyama is a weeping laceleaf variety that typically grows to three or four feet tall on its own but can be grown up to six feet tall when staked upright.
Tamuke yama is one of the oldest known lace leaf weeping maples dating back to 1710. Spring color is bright crimson red turning to a strong burgundy in the summer with bronze overtones before it finishes with scarlet red fall color. Tamuke yama holds it color better than most other red lace leaf maples even in high heat and humidity so it is recommended for East coast and Southern climate zones. All red leaf cultivars must have 5-6 hours of sun each day or the leaf color will lose its red color becoming more greenish. Plan ahead so that as the maple grows shade will not be a problem. Staking a top leader branch is advisable to get the desired height. A canopy or umbrella shape is desired for most lace leaf maples. This cultivar can reach 6′ tall and wide in 10 years. An excellent maple for a water feature or Japanese style garden. Once established this cultivar is hardy to USDA zone 5.

This variety is one of the oldest known red lace leaf Japanese Maples. It is written about in Japanese literature dating back to 1710. New growth crimson-red, turns purple-red summer then bright scarlet in fall. USDA Zones 5-9.
In my opinion, this is the best of the weeping red dissectums as it grows full and vigorously and keeps its dark maroon color all summer.
DISSECTUM, red. A wonderfully delicate, cascading plant. Height and spread will depend on how it is staked. The leaves begin as dark purple and lighten as they age. The main difference in this foliage is that the cuts are not as deep as those of 'Everred' or 'Crimson Queen', and the center of each lobe of the leaf is slightly wider, giving more mass to it. Fall brings bright scarlet leaf colors that give a glow to the garden. The first reference to this cultivar was in 1710, so it has surely stood the test of time.
