Hibiscus palustris is a broadleaf deciduous perennial with green foliage. In summer pink flowers emerge. Attracts butterflies making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun and standing water - regular water. Does well in average, clay, gritty and rich soil.
This native relative of the Hollyhock boasts huge pink flowers up to half a foot in diameter. Rose Mallow (Hibiscus palustris) is a real show off, prefering a rich, moist soil, but does beautifully in fertile garden soil. Native to wetlands from the east coast to Ohio and Indiana, it is fully hardy to Zones 4 - 9. Also called Swamp Rose Mallow.
