Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Pure white flowers grace the tops of this charming little plant in mid-summer. Growing one to two feet tall, this member of the Legume Family is an important component of short prairies. Plant with Purple Prairie Clover for a great color combination! Grows in medium to dry soils, in full sun. The seeds are utilized by a diversity of birds. Hardy to Zones 3 - 9.
Now more properly Dalea candidum. A white flowered bush clover with all the virtues of the more common Petlostemon purpureum/Dalea purpurea but with white flowers that are a bit easier on the eye for people like me who have issues with magenta. Tidy mound of finely cut foliage to about two feet tall, and dense heads of tiny white flowers produced with abandon over much of the summer. Impressively drought tolerant once established thanks to the deep root system. Apparently, the leaves were used for tea and the seeds ground for food by American Indians, so even if for some strange reason you don't find it attractive, you can find other uses for it. Zone 3
