Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Far and away my favorite sedum, succulent rosettes that perfectly mimic a sempervivum, and like them go monocarpic when they flower, to maintain this long term it is imperative to behead them to force offsets, alternatively you can let them flower out and save seed which is abundantly produced but a bitch to germinate in quantity. Half a foot high. Breaking at the top into a wide spray of bell shaped flowers in the most dazzling shade of pure blood-scarlet, vivid and velvety, standing out with double ferocity against the metallic darkness of the leafage. The messiah was fond of it as well, although the contrived planting at RBG Edinburgh shown on plate 39 of the English Rock Garden is just a trifle overdone. ZONE 4
