Nursery contributed plant descriptions

An upright candelabrum of white blossoms and long lasting greenish white calyces is an arresting sight in the late spring garden, the many branched stems arising from roughly textured gray green rosettes of leaves. Its architectural form creates focal points in the late spring garden, lovely with poppies and roses in the cottage garden or arising dramatically from a sea of grasses or other fine textured plants in a modern meadow garden. A biennial for moist, well-drained soil, leave some flower stalks to self sow for blooms year after year.
Combined with the cool hues of Nepeta 'Pool Bank' and Euphorbia 'Red Wing's warmth, 'Vatican White' adds a bright element to an arresting composition. Requiring little water or attention, this vigorous species asks only for a superbly drained site. This nobly architectural Sage has been grown in almost every botanical sanctuary throughout human history. The catalog of its uses is extensive: a flavoring for wines and liqueurs; an oil for perfumes, potpourri and incense (thus becoming known as 'Vatican White'); while medicinally, it is reputed to ease stomach ailments and stop the aging process! This choice white cultivar, however, is not that easy to find, and we cultivate it for its stately presence in the border. Large, gray-green leaves
Permanent in our gardens via self sowing it is rather short lived with large showy bracts subtending the flowers, it is probably the most asked for salvia in our gardens.Vatican White has pure white flowers and large white bracts _ZONE 4
