Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Fragrant deep purple-blue flowers on 2' stalks are wonderful in border, butterfly garden or vase; dried foliage has also been tested for its medicinal properties. S/M-D/GDr
Probably more properly Salvia transsylvanica, but using that name would be bit sad because then the common name of "testicle cola" Bob came up with wouldn't make sense. Basically, this is like nemorosa but larger in all its parts. Big, meaty leaves and thick stems that can reach three feet topped with big spikes of large purple-blue flowers. For butch gardeners who need something more masculine than the prissy, delicate forms of S. nemorosa. Zone 4
