A prescription for gray winter days, the light green needles of this large pyramidal tree turn an eye-catching (in fact almost blinding!) golden-yellow, more so in colder winter weather. S/M-D
This variety was found as a witch's broom on the variety 'Wate's Golden', having the same coloration as the parent plant but being very dwarf!
This is a must have to jazz up your winter landscape! Refreshing, light green needles turn to dazzling golden yellow during winter months, then turn back to a soft green as the weather warms. Will have an open, somewhat spreading, pyramidal habit with age. Does well in heavy clay soils and in poor soils. The species is native to the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Growth Rate slow to medium
Pinus virginiana 'Wate's Golden' - A winter color variety of Scrub Pine. Leaves are a bright green in summer. In winter leaves turn school bus yellow. Plant likes to look wind swept. Very nice pine to sculpture.
One of my favorite gold conifers, like many it greens out in summer but when fully colored up it glows.
Deep green needles turn school bus yellow in winter. Red cones. Deer resistant. Hardy to Zones 4-8.
Needles in twos are an amazing lemon-lime in summer and rich yellow in the winter. Will grow 12-24" a year, to a height of 20-30' with less spread, and it is excellent for use in heavy, dry, neutral to acid soils.
