Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Phlox divaricata 'May Breeze' is a delightful spring blooming eastern North American native ground cover for shade. Known as wild sweet William or woodland phlox, it carpets the shady border or woodland with lightly fragrant, white flowers sometimes with a hint of palest lavender. It is great to layer into the shady border planted between later emerging perennials like ferns and hosta. It will bloom in early to mid spring with bulbs and other spring ephemerals giving extra colour when not much else is happening. It can go semi-dormant after blooming so it is great to interplant it with other ground covers or allow larger perennials to take over the show after it blooms. Attracts butterflies. A Canadian native to Ontario and Quebec.
Fragrance from the sky-blue flowers on 15-18" stems of this slowly mat-forming native groundcover fills May breezes. S-PSh/M
Very pale, almost white flowers with narrow petals for a starry look. Extremely heavily flowering in the spring and fragrant like the rest of the species. Native to Eastern US deciduous woodlands and happiest in similar conditions in the garden. Zone 3
