Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This overlooked long bloomer, native to the hillsides of japan where it grows in well drained, yet evenly moist soil in the partial shade of a woodland's edge. Above clumps of broad toothed lleaves, 12-18" stems extend, bearing corymbs of small yellow flowers followed by showy golden bracts. Bloom begins in late June, early July and continues into September. Deer dislike it and we've noticed quite a few butterflies and other pollinators visiting the blossoms.
An attractive plant from the shady mountainsides of Japan the yellow flowers are used there for arranging, and it is great in the woodland garden mixing well with Asian and American woodlanders ZONE 5
