X Pardancanda is now more properly known just as... Iris, as both the parents of this hybrid genus (Belamcanda and Pardanthopsis) have been lumped into iris. It is still better known by this name, however, and whatever you call it, they're exceptionally choice plants. This is a particularly fine selection with beautiful purple blue flowers intricately patterned and marked. Starts blooming in mid summer and keeps it up for a quite a long time. Each flower is only open for about half a day, in the case of this cultivar, they open up in the early afternoon and stay open well into the evening. Interestingly, this one seems to be largely sterile, producing only one or two seeds at the end of the bloom season. This means you loose out on the usually rather attractive shiny black seeds, but is no doubt part of the reason it blooms so incredibly heavily. Zone 4
