Zn 6. Glossy green leaves on wiry stems.
Dark colored wire like stems climb 6-12 inches. Use as a tiny vine in all miniature scenes. We train ours over mini arches, arbors, tiny trellis, and mini fences. Grows well in any landscape spreading slowly by underground stolons which root quickly for easy propagation. Slow growth, tiny flowers in summer.
Often referred to as wire grass, this particularly useful, New Zealand ground cover or container plant grows to only 6" in height, spreading slowly. Dark, wiry stems with shiny, evergreen leaves. Sun to part shade in almost any soil but needing some summer water where particularly dry. Very good around steps or larger specimens such as New Zealand flax. Frost hardy to 8 °F, upper edge of USDA zone 7.
A mat forming member of the Polygonaceae, its cute, and hardy here, which is more than you can say for most of the New Zealand flora. ZONE 6
We hadn't realized this attractive little creeper was hardy, and had been growing it as a container plant. Oval dark green leaves on wiry stems are decorated with translucent fruit embedded with dark black seeds. Use as a container accent too!
