Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Michigan Lily is one of the finest native Lilies, with gorgeous orange and yellow flowers blooming through the middle of summer. Several nodding blooms with strongly recurved petals hang downward from stalks 3' - 6' high that spread upward and outward. Lilium michiganense does best in a rich, damp soil with plenty of humus. If possible, plant in an area with morning sun and afternoon shade, such as the east side of a house. Plant it near a downspout to provide some extra soil moisture and your efforts will be rewarded!
Always a favorite, we grew these from seed a few years ago, these are the typical form; we really should propagate a few of the variants (a blatant hint to Fred and Tony)
