Nursery contributed plant descriptions

GROWS IN HEAVY CLAY! And it’s not ugly! In fact, it’s handsome with its stout, upright, blackish stems & its large (12” across!), rounded, tropical looking leaves. Native to France, Bulgaria, Siberia, China & Japan, Ligularia sibirica tops out at about 4’ tall (2’ spread) & grows naturally by streamsides, & so, likes moist soil. The clear, yellow, daisy flowers are held on branching stems & contrast nicely against the black stems. Bloom season is June & July. A tough, clump forming perennial, it does best in rich, composty soil. Bait for snails in Spring.
Ligularia siberica Big round leaves a the base, attractive dark stems, and many tall spikes of bright yellow flowers reaching 4 feet or so in summer. Likes wet, even boggy conditions, but otherwise carefree. Zone 3
