Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Now reclassified as Sempervivum, but few folks are aware of this. This eye-catching hardy succulent has tight dark colored rosettes that eminent from a single crown. In our experience, Jovibarba demands sharp soil drainage and is suitable for growing in containers. 4-6" tall and slowly forming wider clusters. Shipping 2.5" pots.
Jovibarba are closely related to Sempervivum and look quite similar to their cousins. Jovibarba is comprised of three species J. heuffelii, J. sobolifera and J. hirta along with various cultivars. The foliage offers shades of greens and reds. The flowers are yellow rather than pink as in the Sempervivum.
Tight clusters of large (to 12") and variable rosettes. Hardy well below 0 °F.
A strange Hen and Chick, it multiplies, albeit rather slowly, by splitting the huge rosettes in half or spawning a new rosette within the existing one, refined symmetrical rosettes; blossoms are light yellow. ZONE 4
