Hymenocallis littoralis, also known as Ismene littoralis, is a very spider-like species with white flowers consisting of a small corona with long, thin filaments holding orange stamens, and long, narrow, arching petals. The flowers of beach spider lily are fragrant like vanilla and are borne on stems 1-2 feet tall above the Amaryllis-like foliage. Grow in a protected location outdoors in zone 8 or as a pot plant brought in as a houseplant in winter. Can be grown as a marginal aquatic in a pond or other water feature.

Very large white, fragrant, flowers that look like a cross between a crinum and a daffodil. Striking, different, and beautiful. When out of bloom, the big, lush, strappy green leaves are fairly nice as well. Quite tender, can only take a light frost. You'll need a greenhouse or a sunny windowsill. It's native to Central and South America.
