    Gladiolus saundersii is a broadleaf deciduous perennial bulb / corm / tuber with green foliage. In fall and summer orange and salmon flowers emerge. Features grassy texture. Attracts butterflies making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun and regular water. Prefers to be dry in winter, dry when dormant. Does well in rich and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something verticillium wilt resistant.

    Though it looks like cultivated, it grows wild on mountain slopes, where snow is not uncommon, lending it an unusual cold hardiness of USDA zone 5. The flowers are exceptionally large, approximately 4", rather bright coral-red, the three lower petals are have a white zone with is heavily speckled with the same red. Needs a well drained soil.

    Lovely salmon-orange flowers on spikes a couple feet tall, like most species glads very graceful with intricately formed flowers. Native to the highest parts of the Drakensberg in South Africa, it may well prove hardy to be hardy. Zone 7, probably 6, maybe 5.
