Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Perhaps this plant would be better known if the average gardener could pronounce its name. (Don't pronounce the "w"). We like it for its dusky plum foliage in early spring, which is retained as a flush in summer weather. Deep purple flowers appear in midsummer and continue for weeks. Grow in spot with well drained soil with full or partial sun. Grows 15-20" tall and wide.
A great plant despite the unpronounceable name, 4cm wide violet flowers with darker veins produced in abundance, its native from Siberia through Mongolia and into China. ZONE 4
