Erinacea anthyllis is a broadleaf evergreen shrub with green foliage. In summer lavender flowers emerge. Attracts bees making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun and occasional - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Does well in average, gritty, rocky and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something seaside / salt tolerant.

The axillary clusters of two or three violet blue pea flowers emerge from their inflated calyces in early summer; hardy and long lived in a well-drained sunny site, this ranks among the best rock plants.
