This easy to grow herbaceous perennial and relative to the rose grows 1-2 ft. high by 1 ft wide and has creamy yellow flowers, soft leaves and red stems. It works beautifully in containers as well as perennial gardens. The flowers last longer in part shade with moderate water, but this perennial grows well in full sun with regular water. Blooms late spring, summer and into the fall. Native to California and is also found outside of California, but is confined to western North America. It is a preferred food for the western harvest mouse, deer mouse, cactus mouse, California mouse, Pacific kangaroo rat, and little pocket mouse in California coastal sage scrub communities. No Historical Uses found. Found in found on moist soils in grasslands, meadows, and in the sagebrush desert, or in moist, open woodlands. Communitites located in Subalpine Forest, Alpine Fell-fields, Yellow Pine/Red Fir/Lodgepole Forest, wetland-riparian Between 0 and 12467 feet .
