Perideridia kelloggii is a broadleaf deciduous perennial with green foliage. In spring and summer white flowers emerge. Attracts butterflies making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun and regular - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Adapts to various soil conditions. Does well in average, clay, gritty, rocky and well-drained soil.

This deciduous herbaceous perennial grows 1-2' tall when in flower. Plant is a native host plant for the anise swallowtail butterfly. Mass together for borders, combine with yarrow, rosillia, and asters for a meadow look. Water during the flowering period then let go dry. Will go winter dormant. Delicate umbels of white flowers in Spring through Summer. Endemic to California Larval food source for Anise Swallowtail butterflies (Papilio zelicaon) and checkerspot butterflies (Euphydryas chalcedona). A decoction of the flowers were used by many Native American tribes as an antiemetic and the roots and tubers were used as a food source. Found in open grasslands, sometimes on serpentine soils. Communitites located in Coastal Prairie, Mixed Evergreen Forest, Chaparral, Foothill Woodland Between 0 and 4000 feet.
