Clarkia unguiculata is a broadleaf deciduous annual / biennial with green foliage. In spring and summer magenta, red and white flowers emerge. Attracts bees and butterflies making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly sun and regular - occasional water. Drought tolerant once established. Does well in average, clay and gritty soil.

An annual wildflower endemic (limited) to California alone. It grows from 18-24" and is very showy and easily grown. Pink to coral colored flowers bloom continuously throughout the spring and into the summer and it will reseed for next years spring color. Flowers of the genus Clarkia are primarily pollinated by specialist bees found in their native habitat. Endemic to California Native bees can?t seem to get enough of it. Green and gold dyes are obtained from the flowers. Found in coastal, woodland. Communitites located in Chaparral, Foothill Woodland, Valley Grassland, Coastal Strand Between 0 and 5000 feet.
